Interim President | Pacific Gas and Electric Company
Michael Lewis was named PG&E's Interim President in August 2020. In his role, Lewis oversees Electric Operations, including the company's wildfire prevention and response efforts; longer-term grid resiliency initiatives; system-wide vegetation management work; and emergency preparedness and response efforts. Gas Operations, Generation and Customer Care report to him as well.
He joined PG&E in 2018 and had been Senior Vice President, Electric Operations, since January 2019.
Lewis brought three decades of electric operations experience to PG&E. He served as Duke Energy's Senior Vice President and Chief Distribution Officer, responsible for distribution operations across six states. Lewis previously served in increasingly more senior roles in the electric transmission and distribution including Chief Transmission Officer at Duke Energy. Before the Duke Energy/Progress Energy merger, Lewis was a senior vice president of energy delivery for Progress Energy Florida.
He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Florida and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University. He attended both the Advanced Management Program at Duke University and the Finance and Accounting for Non-Financial Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School.
Lewis is on the board of directors of the Bay Area Chapter of the American Red Cross. He is on the California Governor’s Earthquake Advisory Commission and is a member of the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies (AEIC).
