Jan Nimick, Vice President, Power Generation | Pacific Gas and Electric Company
Jan Nimick is Vice President, Power Generation for Pacific Gas and Electric Company. In this capacity, he has responsibility over the continued safe and reliable operation of PG&E’s 5,400-megawatt natural gas, hydroelectric and renewable power plant fleet, and leading a team of more than 700 employees.
Prior to this, Nimick served in positions of increasing responsibility at Diablo Canyon Power Plant, including as a plant operator, shift manager, maintenance manager, operations director, station director, and senior director of engineering, technical and emergency services. He also served as the Interim Lead, Safety, Health, Enterprise Corrective Action Program, and Department of Transportation Compliance, a role he was asked to fill after leading the utility’s Distribution Wildfire Inspection Safety Program in 2019. He has been an employee of PG&E for over 20 years and earned a senior reactor operating license from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Before working at PG&E, Nimick worked as a boiler operator for the State of California. Nimick started his career as a nuclear qualified machinist’s mate in the U.S. Navy’s submarine force. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (cum laude) from California Polytechnic State University.
